One Card, One Person: An Ironclad Defense — HFSecurity Customizes Full-Height Turnstile Access Control System for a Dominican Brewery
n the Dominican Republic, a renowned brewery recently completed a comprehensive upgrade of its facility's security system. To address the brewery's stringent requirements for personnel access control, Chongqing Huifan Technology Co., Ltd. (HFSecurity) deployed a customized full-height turnstile access control system. This system covers critical areas such as raw material warehouses, brewing workshops, packaging lines, and finished product logistics zones. Based on their specific operational needs, the client selected NFC card-swiping as the primary method for access authentication, thereby ensuring both high-level security and convenient, efficient personnel management.
The brewery complex comprises various functional zones, including raw material storage, mashing and fermentation, bottling and packaging, and logistics and shipping. The facility is populated not only by permanent employees but also by a large number of temporary workers, equipment maintenance personnel, logistics drivers, and visitors. Traditional waist-high turnstiles or standard card-based access systems often struggle to prevent individuals from climbing over or tailgating; consequently, unauthorized personnel could potentially infiltrate restricted areas, posing risks to food safety, production safety, and the security of trade secrets.
To address this specific scenario, full-height turnstiles—distinguished by their fully enclosed, rotating barrier structure—offer a definitive solution for eliminating climbing and tailgating behaviors, making them the ideal choice for the brewery's security upgrade.
The full-height turnstile access control system provided by HFSecurity features a robust stainless steel rotating mechanism, with a barrier height exceeding that of an average adult to effectively prevent unauthorized climbing. Each lane functions as an independent passage designed for "one person at a time"; the turnstile rotates to grant access only after an individual's identity has been successfully verified, thereby ensuring strict single-person entry.
This series of full-height turnstiles is equipped with a thickened stainless steel housing and impact-resistant rotating arms, enabling the units to withstand heavy, frequent usage. To accommodate the brewery's humid and wet environment, the equipment's exterior surfaces have undergone anti-rust and anti-corrosion treatments, while internal electrical components feature a sealed design. With a high ingress protection (IP) rating for water and dust resistance, the system is well-suited to endure the demanding conditions found in brewing workshops and cleaning areas.
For this deployment, the client—balancing their internal management protocols with the need for employee convenience—opted to utilize NFC card-swiping as the sole method of identification. Each employee and resident vendor is issued an encrypted IC card; verification is completed simply by lightly tapping the card against the turnstile's sensor area. The turnstile then automatically rotates to grant access—a process that takes just one second and requires no physical contact with the turnstile unit itself. The card-swiping system operates in real-time synchronization with the facility's HR and attendance data; employee entry and exit records are automatically compiled into attendance reports. Access privileges for temporary staff and visitors can be configured based on specific shifts or time slots, and these permissions automatically expire once their validity period ends. Security personnel can retrieve passage records from any turnstile at any time, enabling full traceability of personnel movement within the facility.
HFSecurity full-height turnstile terminals support a variety of authentication methods—including facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, QR code scanning, and palm vein recognition—allowing clients to flexibly select the options that best suit their specific operational needs. Furthermore, we provide free SDK development kits and standard API interfaces to facilitate secondary development and system integration for our clients. Additionally, the company offers comprehensive OEM/ODM customization services; everything from device aesthetics and functional configurations to software platforms can be tailored on demand to meet the unique requirements of diverse operational scenarios.
To accommodate the high volume of material transport characteristic of breweries, HFSecurity has specifically designed widened full-height turnstiles for logistics channels, capable of accommodating the passage of handcarts, forklifts, and small trailers. Concurrently, dedicated card-swiping pedestals and express lanes have been established for logistics drivers, effectively segregating pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This approach not only ensures logistics efficiency but also eliminates the safety hazards associated with mixed pedestrian and vehicle movement.
In the finished goods dispatch area, the full-height turnstiles are integrated with the vehicle dispatch system; only drivers who have successfully completed the cargo manifest verification process are granted access—via card swipe—to the loading platforms, thereby further standardizing and streamlining logistics management procedures.
Since the implementation of this full-height turnstile access control system at the brewery, the facility's overall security management standards have seen a significant improvement. The factory's Head of Security remarked: "In the past, we frequently encountered instances of unauthorized individuals attempting to 'tailgate' their way into the production zones; the full-height turnstiles have now completely eradicated this issue. Moreover, every employee's entry and exit is now logged, providing a crystal-clear record of who went where, and exactly when."
The factory's HR department also reported positive feedback: with employee attendance data now seamlessly integrated into the access control system, the tracking of tardiness and early departures has become significantly more accurate. Furthermore, the calculation of working hours for temporary staff has been fully automated, thereby eliminating the potential for human error inherent in manual data compilation.
To withstand the challenging environmental conditions typical of breweries—specifically high humidity levels and frequent cleaning requirements—HFSecurity full-height turnstiles are constructed from high-grade 304 stainless steel, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. Additionally, the motor and control systems are engineered for wide-temperature operation, ensuring stable and reliable performance within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 50°C. The equipment supports an offline mode; even in the event of a network outage, the turnstiles can continue to verify access normally by relying on a local permissions database, thereby ensuring that production operations remain uninterrupted.
As a key manufacturing hub in Central America, the Dominican Republic serves as the setting for this brewery case study, which vividly demonstrates the exceptional performance of HFSecurity’s full-height turnstile access control systems within industrial production environments. Moving forward, HFSecurity will continue to expand its presence in the Latin American market, leveraging its highly secure, durable, and customizable full-height turnstile solutions to assist an increasing number of manufacturing enterprises in achieving a smart security transformation and upgrade.
