Regulations on food-contact materials have been tightened!DoitRubber’s dedicated BPA-free FCM workshop has officially commenced operations.
As global safety regulations for food-contact materials continue to tighten, “BPA-free” status is evolving from a mere product selling point into a fundamental compliance requirement for an increasing range of food processing equipment, water purification systems, and fluid control products. The European Union is set to implement Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 in January 2025, imposing a comprehensive ban on the use of BPA in food-contact materials, while domestic standards are also progressively lowering permissible limits. For manufacturers, the challenge lies not only in selecting BPA-free materials but also in consistently meeting these rigorous compliance standards over the long term during large-scale production.
A common pattern observed across the implementation of environmental regulations — such as RoHS — is that industries often underestimate the importance of compliance initially, only to face high remediation costs later. A similar trend is emerging in the sector of food-contact materials. As control requirements for specific substances reach the ppm (parts per million) level, even minute variations in raw material management, equipment residues, production environments, and manufacturing processes can impact the consistency of a final product’s compliance. Clients value a supplier’s long-term, stable process control capabilities and mass-production consistency far more than a single passing test result; this is a key reason why an increasing number of international brands prioritize production system management capabilities during supplier audits.
Anticipating regulatory trends regarding food-contact materials, Doit Rubber proactively invested in the development of BPA-free products and the establishment of corresponding production systems. Prior to the launch of its dedicated production workshop, Doit Rubber’s BPA-free sealing products for food-contact applications had already undergone third-party verification by SGS. The test results confirmed compliance with safety standards for food-contact materials, meeting the safety and regulatory requirements for applications such as food processing equipment, water purification systems, and fluid control equipment.
DoitRubber views compliance management for food-contact materials (FCMs) as more than just obtaining a test report; it is a systematic process encompassing the entire lifecycle — from raw materials and production to testing and delivery. Even with a BPA-free formulation, issues such as cross-production, equipment residue, or inadequate environmental controls during manufacturing can compromise product consistency and long-term stability. Consequently, DoitRubber has established a dedicated BPA-free FCM production workshop, implementing independent management for every stage of production — from raw material handling and molding to post-processing.
Regarding cleanliness, the workshop employs an independent access control system featuring a dual-buffer zone. Before entering the production area, all personnel must follow standard protocols — including handwashing, changing shoes, and donning dust-proof caps and suits — to minimize the risk of external contaminants entering the production environment at the source.
Regarding the production environment, the workshop maintains a constant-temperature setting, with the temperature in the production area stably controlled at 23 ± 3°C. Stable environmental conditions help ensure consistency across key processes — such as rubber compounding, molding, and vulcanization — thereby enhancing dimensional accuracy, physical property stability, and batch-to-batch consistency. This guarantees that food-contact products consistently meet relevant standards over the long term.
Currently, the dedicated BPA-free FCM (Food Contact Material) workshop has completed the layout and commissioning of core equipment and has officially entered the mass production phase. The workshop is equipped with four production units, a compounding mill, an automatic cutter, and a post-curing oven. It is capable of independently executing key processes — including milling, cutting, molding, and post-curing of BPA-free food-grade rubber — enabling dedicated production line management for BPA-free products and eliminating potential risks associated with mixed-line production.
For years, DoitRubber has served the sectors of micro-pumps and valves, medical devices, fluid control, and precision sealing, accumulating extensive expertise in dimensional precision, sealing performance stability, and batch-to-batch consistency. The company recognizes that end customers require not merely a batch of products that pass inspection, but a manufacturing capability that consistently meets standards over the long term. The establishment of this dedicated BPA-free workshop for Food Contact Materials (FCM) represents a strategic move by DoitRubber to align with the trend toward enhanced safety in food-contact materials, further strengthening its manufacturing capabilities for food-grade precision seals.
Looking ahead, DoitRubber will continue to advance the automation and intelligent upgrading of its BPA-free workshop. By progressively introducing automated deflashing, AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), and automated packaging equipment, the company aims to build a comprehensive management system covering raw material handling, manufacturing, quality inspection, and clean packaging, thereby achieving independent management of the entire process — from production and inspection to packaging and shipment — for food-contact grade seals.
The official launch of this dedicated BPA-free workshop marks a significant upgrade for DoitRubber in the field of food-contact precision seals, spanning the entire value chain from material R&D and third-party validation to specialized, large-scale production. Moving forward, the company remains committed to providing precision sealing solutions that ensure safety, stability, and long-term regulatory compliance for clients across sectors such as food processing equipment, water purification and fluid handling, medical devices, and high-end pumps and valves.
